Word Processor!



Word processor is a software program capable of creating, storing, and printing documents. Unlike the standard typewriter, users using word processors have the ability of creating a document and making any changes anywhere in the document. This document can also be saved for modification at a later time or to be opened on any other computer using the same word processor.



Spreadsheet!

A piece of paper with rows and columns for recording financial data for use in comparative analysis.


DBMS!

A database management system (DBMS), sometimes just called a database manager, is a program that lets one or more computer users create and access data in a database.



Utility Suites!

 Utility suites is a kind of system software designed to help analyze, configure, optimize and maintain the computer.



Web authoring!

A Web site development system that allows Web pages to be visually created like a desktop publishing program. It generates the required HTML code for the pages and is able to switch back and forth between the page layout and the HTML.

Bitmap Image!

A bitmap is a type of graphic composed of pixels in a grid. Each pixel or "bit" contains color information for the image.

HTML Editor!

A low-level Web site authoring tool that is essentially a text editor, specialized for writing HTML code. It assists the HTML author by cataloging all HTML tags and common structures in menus and by being able to catch certain syntax errors.

Software that allows images to be edited and also converted to different graphics formats. Image editors typically deal with only bitmapped images such as GIFs, JPEGs and BMPs however, some editors support both bitmaps and illustrations.

The use of computers to present text, graphics, video, animation, and sound in an integrated way.


Vector Image!

Vector image is the creation of digital images through a sequence of commands or mathematical statements that place lines and shapes in a given two-dimensional or three-dimensional space.

The Internet, The Web and Electronic Commerce

URL!

A URL is the address of a specific Web site or file on the Internet. It cannot have spaces or certain other characters and uses forward slashes to denote different directories.


HTML!


A markup language used to structure text and multimedia documents and to set up hypertext links between documents, used extensively on the World Wide Web.



JAVASCRIPT!

Java Script is a user interface scripting language developed by Netscape for its Navigator and Communicator World-Wide Web browsers.



APPLETS!

A program designed to be executed from within another application. Unlike an application, applets cannot be executed directly from the operating system.




BLOGS!

A web site containing the writer's or group of writers' own experiences, observations, opinions, and often having images and links to other Web sites.

FTP!


FTP allows you to transfer files between two computers on the Internet. FTP is a simple network protocol based on Internet Protocol and also a term used when referring to the process of copying files when using FTP technology.


PLUG-IN!

Plug-in applications are programs that can easily be installed and used as part of your Web browser.


FILTERS!

In computer programming, a filter is a program or section of code that is designed to examine each input or output request for certain qualifying criteria and then process or forward it accordingly.


INTERNET  SECURITY SUITE!


Internet security is a suite of utilities for the internet which consists of antivirus,personal firewall,spam blocker and popup blocker.


WIKIS!


A wiki is a web site that allows users to add and update content on the site using their own web browser. This is made possible by wiki software that runs on the web server.

Careers in IT!

Webmaster!

 Webmaster is a job that requires a person to be in charge of a website. Some may think being a webmaster is an easy job, think again. It is a 24/7 job that requires keeping the site up to date, writing the HTML for that site, organizing the web structure and responding to emails about the website.



Computer Support Specialist!

Computer support specialist is a job that requires a person to provide help desk services and technical support to the local area network (LAN), personal computer equipment and applications, and coordinate administrative functions associated with technical services.


Technical Writer!

Technical writer is the person that writes documentation that explains technical issues in ways that non technical people can understand. A technical writer is also responsible for writing the how-to manual for software application. They are mainly considered as copy writers.



Software Engineer!

Software engineer is defined as the person that is skilled in the application of engineering discipline to the creation of the software. The job is often confused with a programmer, but the two are completely different as a software engineer creates the designs the programmers implements. Network Administrator!
Network administrator oversees a vast of computer networks to ensure that they run smoothly. They also install the necessary hardware and software to set up a computer network, and customizes it to meet the needs of the company using it.


Database Administrator!


This type of job is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database. Additional role requirements are likely to include planning, developement and troubleshooting. Database administrator roles are increasingly indentified by the databases and processes they administer and the capabilities of the database management system  in use.


System Analyst!

A system analyst designs solution for the betterment of productivity and effiency of the business. The designing work may be either for some external client or for an internal client in the firm. This can also be generalized as a business systems analyst job description and not only for the IT sector.


Programmer!

Programmer job normally involves responsibility for the design, development and administration of transactional and analytical data structures.
